Revised Lucan Village Boardwalk plan

Lucan Boardwalk proposal from beside Brookvale to Sarsfield Park and Dispensary Lane

This is a complicated one because the proposal is to REDUCE the size of the existing boardwalk as passed by Councillors a while back.

I tabled a motion to abolish this aspect of the plan during the greenway debate as it brings cyclists to a dead end without knowing where the Fingal plan will join up with it and also unnecessarily cuts down a huge amount of trees. See earlier article: https://www.paulgogarty.com/post/cycle-route-plan-passed

Sadly I could not even get one elected rep to second my motion, so as of now there's major disruption and destruction planned for a fancy boardwalk to nowhere, something I more recently described as "South Dublin's Dáil Bike Shed".

So while the new plan actually proposes something less damaging, if you (like me) believe that any costly boardwalk plan is a waste of money and environmentally damaging, then please let this be known in your submission. Call for the boardwalk to be removed in its entirety. I am not sure if Cllrs will have the power to change the plan to get rid of the boardwalk, even if a majority now want to, but a clear message needs to be sent.If you think a boardwalk here is a good idea, then it's still important to make a submission, because what is proposed is less damaging than what is currently in the plan and also costs less.
