Rolling update, originally posted February 2024. The W61 and W62 was planned to hopefully be joined into one service by the end of the summer to link Newcastle with more neighbouring towns. It was subsequently delayed, but Indications are it should be finally ready as a unified route on the 24th of November next.

This update 12th November
The NTA has replied to my latest query, confirming that “Route W6 commences on 24th of November.”
I always take such statements with a grain of salt, but with the bridge works essentially completed, and driver training long underway, the assumption is that this information is reasonably accurate.

This update 26th August
Letter from NTA dated 24th August:
Dear Councillor,
I refer to your enquiry dated 26th July 2024.
We plan to start route W6 as soon we can after new traffic signalling arrangements are in place to make that possible, and after driver training along the new section has taken place.
At present we do not have a confirmed date from the contractor but are working to make the change at the earliest opportunity. We will communicate with all stakeholders when a more precise date is known.
In respect of bus stops, please note that no new stops are being implemented as part of the current works, but consideration will be given to that once there is sufficient experience with how the new traffic arrangements are working.

This update 8th August - Road Closure proposed for works. to carry out a junction upgrade at Hazelhatch Bridge on the R405 with associated civil works,
SDCC Roads Department estimates that works to facilitate the widening and traffic light sequencing of Hazelhatch Canal Bridge should be completed by early summer, enabling the W61 and W62 routes to switch to a full route linking Newcastle with Celbridge and Maynooth as well as the current Saggart, Citywest and The Square Tallaght.
Update March 29 - reply attached below suggested early summer, but most contractor appointments have been delayed so September is likely a more realistic date. I will table further queries in due course.
